A dog is for life...

Many of the thousands of dogs end up in rescues centres because of their high energy level. As we value that energy in our sport, many would make super agility dogs, if only given a chance. If you are looking for another dog, have a look at the dogs below. Open your heart and give one of these 'little guys' a good home. Or if you know of someone - a friend, neighbour or work colleague who is looking for a dog as a pet, do pass on the web site.

We will promise to keep a dog on this page for three months at least. If it has not rehomed within this time, we'll move it over to the Still Looking page as space is limited and there are lots of dogs waiting to be rehomed. If a dog is re-homed, whether through the pages of Agilitynet or other sources, could you please let us know asap so we can make room for another rescue dog.

If you know of a rescue dog that would make a good agility or flyball prospect, preferably two years old or under, download this template, answer all the questions about the dog's history etc. and return with a photo of the dog by email. That way, you won't get time wasters and we can post the dog a whole lot faster).

We'll try to let you know what's happened to these dogs on the Happy Endings page.

Please note that the entries for the dogs below have been provided by the rescue organisation and Agilitynet cannot be held responsible for errors or misleading descriptions.

PRINCE

History: Prince was rescued from Wales where he had been abandoned on the streets. Although he was out and about on his own, Prince was in good physical condition and showed no indication of having suffered any ill treatment prior to entry to the Rescue Centre.
Description: Prince is a Tri-colour WSD, with lovely markings. Prince is a large, strong, highly intelligent dog. In the short time he has been with us, Prince has proved himself to be an exceptionally willing pupil; he is developing basic obedience skills and is enjoying daily opportunities to play and socialise.
Rehoming criteria: Prince gets on well with bitches but would probably be better suited to a home where he was the only male dog or the sole dog in the home. Prince has a huge amount to offer an owner with good leadership skills but is not a 'beginner’s dog.' In experienced hands, Prince could make a sensational agility or flyball dog.

CLOUD (REVISED)

History: Cloud came from a breeder who was unable to sell her as she is deaf.  She was living locked in a stable along with her sister.
Description: She is mainly white with blue merle patches and blue eyes.  Her coat is short/medium length. Cloud is a very friendly girl, who loves everyone she meets. She gets on well with other dogs and loves to play. Although she has lacked in socialising, she is confident in the outside world and is getting used to being in a home. House training is pretty much established and she is now sleeping through the night. She is a very bright dog, who is always full of enthusiasm. Her training is coming along well and is typically very focused during training sessions. I can be an advantage she can't hear at times! She is good off lead and tends to stay close even when the other dogs are running around and she has ignored any rabbits or geese that have been around while off lead. She is now getting quite into her toys and enjoys a good game.
Rehoming criteria: Cloud would be ideally homed in an experienced collie home as although deaf she is very much an active girl. Training a deaf dog, does require patience, but is not difficult and advice will be given, she loves her food and is willing to do anything for it.
Child friendly:
Yes, but would be best with children over 10 years
Able to live with cats: Yes. Lives with one.
Age: 6 months.
Sex: Bitch
Neutered: No, but will be when old enough.
Vaccinated: Yes
Micro-chipped: Yes
Flea sprayed & wormed: Yes
Cost: No charge, she just needs a good permanent home.

LUDO

History: Ludo was originally rescued from Wales but since then has been living happily at a stables until a change in the owner's circumstances sadly prompted his return to the Rescue Centre.
Description: A tri-colour WSD, Ludo is a very genuine, loving dog, with lots of energy . He loves to be around other dogs and is well behaved both on and off lead. He is happiest when outdoors walking or playing with toys.He is house trained and crate trained and travels well in a car. Ludo would love to be offered a new home, perhaps with an established bitch, where he will have lots of company, attention and someone to build on his good levels of basic obedience.
Rehoming criteria: Agility would bring out the best in him as he is so keen to please and responds well to firm, fair handling and is already showing great promise with introductory activities at the Centre.
Child friendly: Older children
Able to live with cats:  Has lived with a cat but perhaps better without.
Age: Approximately  18 months
Sex: Dog
Neutered: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
Micro-chipped: Yes
Flea sprayed & wormed: Yes
Cost: CDRS adoption donations apply.

RICKY

History: Ricky came over to us from a death row pound in Ireland.
Description: Ricky is a happy lad with lots of love to give. He craves attention and loves to play. He can be bouncy when he first meets new people and other dogs but is non-aggressive and responds quickly when asked to steady. Ricky is learning his basics and lead training and he would benefit from a home willing to continue and take him to classes. He would happily fit into various types of home as long as he gets his playtimes and cuddles. He is still very puppy like in many ways.
Rehoming criteria: Ricky would like an active home. He enjoys his training and it would be great if this could include agility.

KIPPER

History: Kipper came to Many Tears Animal Rescue as a stray from a pound. His history is unknown but he is a lovely boy, very keen to meet people and make friends. Beautiful Kipper has been with us for weeks now and hasn't even had one enquiry. Everyone that's passed his kennel has done exactly that, without even a second glance. The staff here are baffled as to why he's not had any interest because he's a smashing dog and is just the sort of dog that people who want a Collie are looking for.
Description Kipper's incredibly responsive and very easy to train. He'll work for anything - food, toys, affection or just fun and would be a definite star in any agility class. He isn't brilliant at meeting other dogs but isn't terrible either. He just needs a little bit more practice at being social. He walks wonderfully on a lead and is always happy to meet new people and make friends and then have cuddles and kisses.
Rehoming criteria: Although he would live with other dogs, he would be happiest to be an only dog or homed with bitches and an owner that didn't have to leave him for very long. We believe Kipper had a home once upon a time and so is at least someway to being housetrained. An active, agility home would suit Kipper.

BUSTER

History: Buster was originally a stray who was rehomed, unfortunately in his new home he became very wound up by other dogs outside and ragged the boys sleeve, so was returned.
Description: Buster is a tan and white, long legged JRT. He is a very loving dog who loves lots of fuss and will lie on the settee for a cuddle. He also loves to play and his food.
Rehoming criteria: Buster will require An experienced ‘terrier' home with people over 16 years. His new owners should be prepared to put some training in as he has not been socialised with other dogs and gets very wound up by them at the moment, so this will require some work.
Child friendly: Not under 16 years old
Able to live with cats: Not tested, but probably not.

ALF

History: Alf has been working as a drugs dog for the Prison Service but is looking for a new home.
Description: He is a tri-colour collie, very friendly and likes to 'sing' when he greets you. He is inclined to jump up to lick faces.
He is sociable with other dogs and lives with other dogs at present, but would stand up for himself if another dog went for him.
Rehoming criteria: I'm sure Alf would love to go to a home where he could learn agility when he stops working for the Prison Service and he is already trained to love a ball.
Child friendly:
Yes, but does jump up.

DAISY

History: Daisy originally went to an agility home but was returned after one week when it was discovered that she is deaf in one ear. She is now up for re-homing again after showing signs of nervous aggression towards strangers which began shortly after the birth of a baby into the family. Daisy is now in a foster home as she was booked to be PTS. She has settled in very quickly.
Description: A medium-sized, tri-colour (black/tan) WSD, Daisy is very bright and picks up new tricks in seconds. She needs careful introduction to new people but demands cuddles within minutes once she has accepted them. She interacts well with other dogs and is learning how to play, and seems to respect the hierarchy and has not shown any aggression towards other dogs.
Rehoming criteria: Daisy is toy motivated and totally ball mad. She has recently started agility training and has taken to it like a duck to water and is already working short jumping courses on Medium height after only 3 lessons. Her partial deafness does not appear to affect her in any way, and although she would settle as a pet dog I think she would really enjoy a working home.

TOBY

History: Toby was brought into a rescue centre as a stray. He was then rehomed to inexperienced people and brought back and is currently in a foster home.
Description: Toby is a smooth-coated, black & white WSD. He is quite big, very loving and playful, great with other dogs, very food and toy orientated and very responsive to commands. We had him off lead after one day and he stays close to you and comes straight back when called, all the things you need to have for training an agility dog.
Rehoming: He would be ideally suited to someone who is just starting or already competing in agility or possibly an active pet home. You would need to have a home check or a reference from someone we know in agility.

LANCELOT & WINSTON

HistoryThese puppies have been rescued from their previous owner whose idea of training was to thrash them with a belt. They are currently being fostered.
DescriptionVery inquisitive and alert. Would make very good Agility/Flyball candidates as they have no undesirable traits at the moment and are very eager to learn. Both have very nice temperaments.
Rehoming criteria:
They need to go to separate homes as any sensible person should know having two dogs from the same litter usually ends in disaster. They need a home where they will be given lots of love and exercise. Training them in Agility or Flyball would be a great way of keeping their minds occupied.
Child friendly:
Because of their age obviously they are very bouncy and playful, people with small children should have previous experience with dogs and not allow children to tease them.
Able to live with cats:
Have never had any contact with cats.

MISTY

History: Misty is a very good looking ISDS registered black and white smooth coated collie who is a bit too 'full on' with the sheep to continue being worked with them.
Description: She loves people and children and chasing balls and is very fast and athletic so would make a fantastic agility dog. She can be slightly sharp towards other dogs until she gets to know them.
Rehoming criteria: A good home where she will be loved and get lots of exercise and agility work.

She has been going to agility training to watch and appears keen. She has also been receiving some training from her fosterer.  (04/01/09)

NELL (now RUBY)

History: Nell had lived on a farm for two years but wouldn't work the sheep so she was no use to the farm.
Description: Nell is a pure bred Kelpie. She loves people and children but can be bossy with dogs that are not assertive. She loves her crate and sleeps in it at night and when I am out. She has been with us for a couple of months and is now housetrained.
Rehoming criteria: Nell needs an active family, with experience of active breeds, an occupation like agility would keep her busy and focused.

FIZZ

History: Fizz's owner cannot walk her due to arthritis in her legs, so I walk Fizz for her. She was adopted 9 weeks ago. Fizz is now looking for a forever home due to her being too boisterous, she knocked over her owner who then couldn't get up for 40 mins and lives on her own which is not an ideal situation.
Description: Fizz is great with people and other
