Sometimes it's love at first sight. Sometimes it takes a little longer to find the right one - and they might have been there all the time. If you are still looking for that special dog, here are some dogs who are ‘still looking’ for their special homes. They've all been submitted to Agilitynet because someone out there thought they had the potential to become good agility dogs. Some may require a little extra time and patience to help them, but with the right home, a little extra time and patience, one of them could be the dog of your dreams. We will keep them on this page for six months and then, unless we hear differently, remove them to make way for other dogs.

DORIS

History: Doris is still with her owners whose house unfortunately is too small for two energetic dogs so it is with regret and sadness that they are looking to rehome her.
Description: Doris is a lively Springer Spaniel X. She absolutely loves children and really is a great dog. She is fully house trained and has an absolutely gorgeous temperament but she is a typical Springer and always on the go. Doris will be an extremely loyal dog for the right adventurous and energetic family.
Rehoming criteria: She will need to go to a home that can tire her out. She would make a great gun/agility dog as she is very intelligent and agile.

Description: Lex is well-built, mainly white in colour with black markings on his face. He can be a little shy until he gets to know people, and is currently in a foster home.

MAX

History: We took Max in after he had to be rehomed as he was too keen to show that he had learnt his 'paw' command and accidently scratched his owner's child's face.
Description: Max is a lovely looking tri-colour collie. He is very well behaved at home, and rather quiet. As soon as we take him on a walk and off the lead to the park, his collie traits become very apparent and he loves to play and is highly intelligent and responsive to training. He would make an excellent agility dog.
Rehoming criteria: Max must only go to a home where his owners would have had agility training experience and where he will be mentally and physically stimulated. Ideally he would be best suited where his owners would have a lot of land, i.e. a large garden or farm. He is a very sociable dog and would happily live with other dogs.

BENJI

History: Benji has come from a family home where his escape artist traits made the owners give him up.
DescriptionBenji is a smart little dog with loads of attitude who really needs to be doing something all the time. He is very lively and bright, but can be a little dominant with other dogs and a little possessive with toys. Benji is very affectionate with people.
Rehoming criteria: Benji needs an active working home. Agility would be a great outlet for his boundless energy and high working instinct.

Interim Report: Peppa is still looking for a home. She is now 16 months old, spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. She is house trained and her general training is coming on nicely.(07/07/08)

PEPPA

History:  Peppa was placed in rescue as owner didn't have enough time for her.
Description: She is a very pretty girl with a wonderful nature, She has lived outside most of her life but stayed in foster home where she was very well behaved as long as she was given enough exercise. She has bags of energy but will happily curl up at your feet at night. She has a lot to learn but is responsive and intelligent. She can be insecure with other dogs but has no aggression in her whatsoever. Peppa has loads of potential as an agility dog in the right hands. She has been crate trained and is clean in the house but will chew, if bored.
Rehoming criteria: She needs an experienced owner that can bring her training on and understands that her lack of socialization as a puppy means that she still doesn't understand that when she sees another dog she can't just run off and play.
Child friendly:
Yes – very sweet with children. Foster home had a 9 and 12 year old with visiting toddlers.
Able to live with cats: Not properly tested as the cat in the foster home was crated due to injury but she didn't take much notice of it.
Age: 13 months
Sex: Bitch
Neutered: Will be done before she is rehomed
Vaccinated: Yes
Micro-chipped: Yes
Flea sprayed & wormed: Yes
Cost: reasonable donation

LASSIE

History: Lassie was found as a stray at 5-6 months old. She was taken in by a lady (aged 71) who has kept her for the last year. The lady can longer cope with Lassie as her experience with dogs is minimal. Lassie has been well cared for over the past year.
Description: Lassie is a black and white border collie with a long wavy coat. She has not been trained or exercised enough and she can become spooked while outside. She mixes well with most dogs and is confident within the home. She has plenty of intelligence and once with the right family will enjoy channelling her energy. Lassie would be more suited to an agility home rather than flyball as she has shown little interest in tennis balls but much prefers footballs.
Rehoming criteria: Lassie needs a firm experienced hand and would benefit from living with a dog who will not be too soft with her
.

Description: He is a very, very playful boy who just loves a game of football, and enjoys the company of people.

DODGE

History: We bought Dodge just over four years ago from a place in the New Forest. We were told that he was a rescue dog from a farm in Wales, simply an unwanted puppy from a sheep dog litter. We bought him as a family pet, with a view to perhaps getting involved in agility classes. He had some basic obedience training before starting agility which we attended for about a year. He progressed well. However, due to family commitments and other personal reasons, we had to stop attending.
Description: Dodge is a handsome tri-colour Collie, slim, not skinny, intelligent, affectionate, and generally good tempered. He loves to play fetch, but can become over excited. I know he could do well in agility given the right trainer and with some patience.
Rehoming
criteria: Dodge needs a home where he would receive attention and stimulation. He needs a firm understanding of his place in the home but will bring great rewards. He is a really lovely dog.
